They are loose because they are a half size too large. My correct size was not available in ths shoe. I wear these around the house in place of slippers because I can wear them outside. I also wear them on boats. They really stick well. I have high arches, so I could use more arch support. Great shoe for the price.

My Mother-in-Law gave me a pair of these shoes about 7 years ago, and I absolutely WORE THEM OUT!!! They were even more comfortable than my tennis shoes, and more versatile! I wore them with shorts, jeans, and until they got too scruffy (after about 4 years) with my dress pants. Last year they finally got so worn out that I had to say goodbye to my dear, trusted shoes. I felt lost without my trusty shoes and said so to my wife. For my birthday this year she bought me not one, but TWO pairs of these shoes so that I'll have what I need and like for years to come. Too soon to tell for sure, but so far, after three weeks, this shoe seems like a pretty good alternative to some of the other brands I considered buying at three to eight times the price. I wear 11-1/2 EEE and generally require a squarish last, which itself is hard to find. So far this one appears to be a nice serendipitous surprise in every way. One thing I would change, even though I understand it would add a little to the cost, would be to make it a single-lace affair, so that tightening the laces up front would affect the fit all the way around the top.

I have purchased several pairs of either this shoe or one of the similar designs over the years (about the only change is color). This is the pair of shoes that is worn almost every day for work at the office, casual evenings and with jeans and a sweatshirt on the weekend. They are comfortable and wear extremely well. I guarantee you that I do not treat them as well as I should but they certainly have provided me with many, many miles in sometimes harsh, damp conditions. My wife has often asked me why I don't try something different. I always reply that I know what I'm getting and the product consistently proves it's quality and durability. Thanks!

Great shoe. Wore them straight out of the box with no break-in period. Soft leather and a perfect fit. I've worn them for a variety of functions and have received several compliments. Only downside is that it takes a while for the interior black dye to not stain white socks.
