These 'full grain' leather boots are smoother in texture than the brown making them suitable for work, play or even dress. Again, the white upper-to-lower stitching is awkward but very correctable with a Sharpie. Unfortunately the neck (calf) of the boot is not re-inforced or substantial enough by itself to prevent it from collapsing (folding) over when free standing making it difficult to put on. The same area is unlined making it difficult to remove the boot without removing your sock with it. Overall these are small issues given the challenge in finding my size in footwear. However, it would be great to see an offering that corrects these designs and provides a more 'dressy' boot.

My husband has been buying these boots since the 80's because they fit him. The only thing he complains about with the past couple pairs is the upper leather is so soft it folds when trying to put them on.

They are the toughest boots I have found hands down as I get 7+ years wear from them with limited care.

I have never had any problems with the craftmanship and the stitching will stay water proof with a silicone treatment once a year!

I have recomended these BOOTS to many, for years now.

Unfortunately these boots have changed over the years. They used to be smooth leather rather than the rough 'full-grain' leather so I could easily wear a pair for dress. This grain is fairly rough. They also used to sport a smooth leather lining in the neck so that they were easy to get on/off. Unfortunately taking a size 16-17 has severely limited my options. These boots tend to be a little heavy and have a clumsy pitch to them. The upper to lower stiching is white....this sticks out like a sore thumb but was easily corrected with a Sharpie marker. Most annoying however is the lack of stiffness of the boot neck. Rather than retauin a vertical position it flops over loosely. Couple this t=with the rough, unline, unfinished inside and you have a boot that does not slide on easily. It also 'captures' the sock almost every time it is removed. They should be fine for barn work but I will co0ntinue to search for a suitable 'dress' boot.

I wear my boots for everything from working, farming, horse riding, and even keeping a good pair for running errands or going out. I've worn this style and brand of boots for 15 years or more. The only complaint is that after a few years the heels may get loose or come off.

My husband works construction and is very hard on any boot. We purchased this boot almost two years ago and it is just now needing replacement. There were no light brown colors available so we ordered the dark brown and liked it just as well, in fact it made it look more rich and soft. My husband usually runs heels and sides of boots down. These did not do that. I hope you continue to make these available for purchase.

This is a comfortable boot, but maybe would buy half size smaller because it is stretching and probable will have to use insert with the boot, I would buy this boot again.

These boots are by far the best that I have found. When you give them the right size they send you the right product. I can take the boots out of the box and wear them all day, no break-in period. Durability is outstanding. My last pair of boots finally gave up after 12 years of everything that I could throw at them. You won't find a better made product in this price range.

The boots, though the same nominal size as I had been wearing, were too large & too wide. I had to go to size smaller & narrower to achieve the same physical size as the older boots.

I first started wearing Mason boots twenty five years ago when my dad and grand dad turned me onto them. A few years back I got away from wearing Mason boots. I really do not know why I tried other boots because I have never had a problem with the boots. When I ordered this pair I was in need of a pair of boots for an upcomming event. I thought of the boots I used to wear and decided to order a pair. I was pleased to see that the price was nearly the same as the last pair I had purchased. When I redeived my order I realized why Mason was the only boots I wore in the past. The boots fit like a glove. I think I will never purchase another pair of boots if they are not Mason boots!

As a Director of Cowboy Action Shooting in the Great State of Maine, I need boots that look authentic, are comfortable to wear all day & can withstand everything the Maine weather can dish out. These boots do that and more! Comfortable from day one, authentic western styling and tough as nails! The only thing better than owning a pair is owning two pairs! I DO! And I wear them all day, every day!

I have lost count of the number of pairs of this particular boot that I have ordered from Mason over the years. I knew from the initial pair (back in the '80s) that the last of the boot was perfect for me. My boots take a beating, and the wear has been more than satisfactory.

I was saddened to see your manufacturing move to China. I have nothing against Chinese products – the quality of the boots remains the same. What concerns me is the fact that we in America are losing the skills and capacity to make our own necessities. I for one would willing pay more for the same boot made in the U.S.

One criticism: PLEASE get rid of the white thread in the sole stitching. The white is something recent (I don't remember it in the pair previous to this) and is almost garish. I dosed the stitches with black felt tip marker, which helped some, but I am sure you can find dark brown or black thread that will serve as well.

I order this particular boot at least once per year and have gone longer. It is a very durable boot and also fits to my foot well. It may seem a little tight at the first, but it loosen up as you wear. I've never had any issues with blister, but I know exactly what size works for me.

Boot is GREAT, but I notice that if the insole gets wet it piles up or distorts, making it unusable. I believe it may be a paper or cardboard product that absorbs water.

I have worn this style for many years. They feel "broken in" right away, but, for the last pair, same labeled size, however, the boot was one size too long and one width too wide. Have exchanged for proper fit.

My Father-in-law gave me a pair of these boots in 1984. I had them re-heeled twice before I bought a new pair in 2001. These are truely an outstanding buy!
